We invite you to be part of this summer’s 23rd annual Antioch
Writers' Workshop, July 12–18, 2008.
You’ll expand your writing skills through lectures, seminars,
panel discussions, readings, manuscript critiques, and personal
writing time. In the process, you’ll become a valued member
of this community of writers.
The week’s activities will begin with a banquet and keynote
speech by novelist Myla Goldberg.
Morning classes with Myla Goldberg, Robert Morgan, and John Lane
will deepen your knowledge of fiction, poetry, and narrative nonfiction.
In “The Writing Life,” we’ll cover topics on the
business side of writing. The three morning classes and “The
Writing Life” are open to all participants.
After lunch, you may want to participate in a seminar (limited to
12 participants, and filled on a first-come, first-served basis
with your paid registration). The seminars, formerly known as “intensives,”
are each devoted to a specific writing genre, such as poetry, mystery,
or fiction. Or you may choose to spend time writing, relaxing, or
exploring the village of Yellow Springs or the trails of Glen Helen
Nature Preserve.
Following dinner, you’ll hear readings by members of the faculty. These readings are open to the public. Participants have the opportunity to read from their own work at our late-night Coffee House Readings.
Collegiality and professionalism are important parts of the Antioch Writers’ Workshop, and you’ll have many opportunities to interact with faculty, staff, and special guests in informal ways.
The Ohio Arts Council helped fund this program with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans. |
