AGENT MEETINGS

Participants will have the opportunity to sign up for brief “pitch sessions” with our guest literary agent. Following is some helpful advice about agent meetings:
  • Most agents will only consider complete manuscripts.
  • Come prepared to pitch your best work, but the agent may ask you to talk about other works if the first doesn’t grab them.
  • The agent will be considering you as a client in addition to the merit and marketability of your material, so express your personality and goals.
  • The point of the pitch session is just to get the agent to want to read further, but it’s your time. Make the most of the time by coming in with a specific goal. Ask questions about the agent, the agency, and the houses you’re targeting.
  • Do your preparation ahead of time! There are lots of articles available online about pitching. Check out the following:
