AWW LitSalon

Just what is the AWW LitSalon? It's a new program that is a fantastic, fun way to enjoy an afternoon with fellow literature lovers, hob-nob with a celebrated author, and support Antioch Writers' Workshop... all at once! And get a tax deduction, too! Our goal is to hold three or four AWW LitSalons, on various literary topics and in various settings in the Greater Miami Valley, each year.

Who: Join John Kachuba, award-winning author of twelve books and numerous articles, short stories and poems. Recently awarded the Grand Prize in Gemini Magazine’s Short Story Contest, he has also been awarded the Dogwood Fiction Prize and the Thurber Treat Prize for humor writing from The Thurber House. John teaches Creative Writing at Ohio University, Antioch University Midwest and the Gotham Writers Workshop. He is a member of the Historical Novel Society, the Horror Writers Association, and the American Library Association’s Authors for Libraries.

John frequently speaks on paranormal and metaphysical topics and is a regular speaker at conferences, universities and libraries and on podcasts, radio and TV. He has been a repeat guest on radio’s “Coast-to-Coast AM with George Noory” and appeared in the Sundance Channel’s TV production, “Love/Lust – The Paranormal.” His website is www.johnkachuba.com and his blog is http://jkachuba.com/metaphysical-traveler-blog/

Available for sale will be copies of the books in John's popular Ghosthunting series.

Em-ceeing for the event, in "Actor's Studio" style will be Dayton Daily News Senior Editor and WHIO radio personality Ron Rollins.

Where: Hook Estate, with hostess Beth Duke, movie producer and original founder of Dayton's 2nd Street Public Market. (Directions will be sent to paid registrants after registration closes on Oct. 21.) The supernatural thriller was filmed at Hook Estate; one of our silent auction items will be a copy of the movie! The home is as gorgeous on the interior as on the exterior and is the perfect setting for our event.

But wait, there's more: Appetizers and beverages will be served. Also at the event, we'll have a fun silent auction with valuable prizes.

All this... and you'll help out AWW at the same time! 50% of the modest attendance fee ($20.00 per individual/$35.00 per couple) is tax deductible.

When: Sunday, October 26, 2014, 4-7 p.m.

Cost: $35 per couple or $20 per individual. Limited to a total of 24 individuals. ALL fees go to support scholarships as well as the Young Writers and other programs of the Antioch Writers' Workshop.
